Jon Landau, Oscar-Winning ‘Titanic’ and ‘Avatar’ Producer, Dies at 63


Jon Landau, James Cameron's producing partner behind both 'Avatar' movies and 'Titanic,' has died after a bout of cancer. He was 63.

Landau helped make history with “Titanic,” the first film to cross $1 billion at the global box office. At 20th Century, Landau oversaw films such as “Die Hard 2,” “Power Rangers,” “True Lies” and “The Last of the Mohicans.” He additionally is the architect of Lightstorm’s ancillary projects, such as Dark Horse Comics and Penguin Random House’s various “Avatar” print spinoffs.
