John Oliver cautions 'death by a thousand cuts' if Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' is passed by Congress
On an episode of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver cautioned that many would face "death by a thousand cuts" if the "Big Beautiful Bill" was passed by Congress.
Sharing it was moving through Congress by only the “narrowest of margins,” he admitted that the potentially deadly cuts to programs that help the poor and vulnerable populations of the United States made the bill and the President sound like a “lumberjack with an OnlyFans page.” He also pointed out that a significant expansion of work requirements for the food stamps (SNAP) program will affect the assistance provided to 41 million people. Oliver then shared that the work requirements being added were only likely to add to “administrative burdens,” and that “Basically this bill is taking all that bueaurcratic bulls–t and somehow making it worse.”
