John C. McGinley Joins HBO’s Steve Carell Comedy Series In ‘Scrubs’ Reunion With Creators Bill Lawrence & Matt Tarses

Scrubs alum John C. McGinley is reuniting with creator Bill Lawrence and writer Matt Tarses on their new comedy series for HBO starring Steve Carell.

As Deadline reported in December, the long-rumored Scrubs reboot is moving along at ABC with Lawrence set to executive produce and the the main cast, including McGinley, in talks to reprise their roles. Coincidentally, Dr. Cox, who was as attending physician before becoming the chief of medicine at Secret Heart, started working as an University professor at the end of Scrubs, which is his new character’s background on the HBO series. McGinley, who is returning to acting after a break, is repped by UTA and attorney Gregg Gellman at Yorn Levine Barnes.
