Jimmy Carter State Funeral To Take Place From January 4-9 In Atlanta, Washington And Plains, GA
A schedule was announced that includes a procession and public viewings.
Current and former special agents of his Secret Service detail will carry his remains and walk along the hearse as it leaves the medical center. The motorcade then will travel through Carter’s hometown of Plains, with a brief pause at his boyhood home at 10:50 a.m., where the National Park Service will salute him by ringing the farm bell 39 times. Before the interment, the U.S. Navy will conduct a missing man formation flyover in honor of his naval service and time as commander in chief.
