Jia Zhangke's 'Caught By The Tides'Courtesy of TIFF The latest from the Chinese auteur, known for movies including A Touch Of Sin and Ash Is The Purest White, is love story told over 23 years and set against the backdrop of explosive growth in China. Written by Jia and Wan Jiahuan, pic is produced by Casper Liang Jiayan, Shozo Ichiyama and Zhang Dong. In their four-year collaboration, Sideshow and Janus Films have acquired arthouse hits including Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Oscar winner Drive My Car, Jerzy Skolimowski’s Oscar nominated EO as well as films by Bertrand Bonello, Catherine Breillat, Leos Carax, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Jean-Pierre & Luc Dardenne, Jafar Panahi, Christian Petzold and Wim Wenders.
