What started as a weekly newsletter from the Clean Plate author, grew to an expansive website that spawned a fashion line, wellness products, recipe portal, podcast, magazine and health summit, among other projects. In March 2016, The Wall Street Journal reported that Honest’s liquid laundry detergent contained a “significant amount” of sodium lauryl sulfate, one of the synthetic ingredients the company had pledged not to use. While there would never have been an easy time to make this decision, I know we have a leadership team in place with Carla Vernón at the helm to advance our founding vision and strengthen Honest’s legacy as an industry change-maker,” she wrote via Instagram.
