Jeremy Renner Says TSA Agents 'Switch the Buttons' So He Doesn't Set Off Airport Security

Jeremy Renner caught up with PEOPLE to discuss his new book 'My Next Breath,' available April 29. He went deep on his 2023 accident, his recovery and how his family helped him get better and the more humorous side of the ordeal.

The Mayor of Kingstown star, 54, tells PEOPLE that with so much titanium in his body after his 2023 accident, he's so stranger to the bells and whistles of security when traveling. Because of all the metal inside his body, Renner says the TSA agents at the airport know to "switch the buttons on [the machines], so it doesn't go off like 4th of July. "My swollen ankles, my back that keeps going out or my jaw that just can't seem to bite down right, it's a great reminder of an attitude that got me to here in the first place," he tells PEOPLE.
