Jennifer Gates Says Dad Bill Helped Inspire Her to Become a Doctor as She Celebrates His Memoir: 'I’m Grateful'

Bill Gates' daughters Jennifer and Phoebe are proud of their father's latest accomplishment: the release of his debut memoir.

Source Code, which hits shelves on Tuesday, Feb. 4, is the first installment of a planned trilogy and covers the billionaire philanthropist's childhood in Seattle and young adulthood. "A big part of why I'm a doctor is because my dad has always instilled this belief in me that scientific advancements — be they AI ultrasound or a vaccine for malaria — are going to make the world a better place," she wrote. Gates recently told PEOPLE that he first realized he wanted to create "some kind of autobiography" about five years ago, but was originally envisioning just one book.
