Jelly Roll overcome with emotion as he reflects on past struggles with drug addiction and the law during CMA Fest performance: 'I was in and out of jail'

The country star, 39, shed tears as he shared with fans his past troubles with the law and drug dependency before launching into his next song, Son of a Sinner.

I was in and out of drug addiction and tonight I am headlining CMA Fest on Saturday night in Nashville, Tennessee,' Jelly Roll - real name Jason Bradley DeFord - explained. DeFord landed himself an 18-month sentence at 16 years old after being charged as an adult in an aggravated assault case that saw him attempt to steal marijuana from someone whilst armed. During his teenage years and early twenties, he was in and out of jail for numerous minor offenses such as violating probation and failing drug tests.
