JD Souther is dead. The songwriter, who wrote hits for the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt, has died at 78.

Souther made his self-titled debut in 1972, and then teamed with Chris Hillman and Richie Furay to release the album The Souther-Hillman-Furay Band.
