Jay Leno Granted Conservatorship of Joint Estate With Wife Mavis Amid Her Dementia Battle
Leno had initially filed the petition back in January, when he first disclosed that his wife is battling dementia.
She told the legendary late-night TV host, "I know this is a hard time when this needs to happen, and I thank you," to which Leno politely replied with, "Thank you, your honor." - GettyThe hearing comes on the heels of Mavis' attorney detailing in court documents that her neurologist, Dr. Hart Cohen, claimed that the philanthropist "sometimes does not know her husband, Jay, nor her date of birth." According to Dr. Cohen -- a top neurologist at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles -- Mavis often has "a lot of disorientation" and "ruminates about her parents who have both passed and her mother who died about 20 years ago."
