The first movie, directed by David Ayer, follows a retired clandestine human intelligence operative who sets out for revenge after his kind-hearted landlady becomes the victim of a phishing scam that steals millions of dollars from a charity she runs. Amazon/MGM Studios is currently being buzzed to take domestic on the sequel, the first of which they handled a year ago, filling a void in a strike-impacted box office.
