Jane Fonda, Shonda Rhimes & Pedro Pascal Urge Gavin Newsom To Sign AI Safety Bill In Open Letter


After he signed two more AI bills protecting entertainers last week, 124 Hollywood pros are urging Gov. Gavin Newsom to sign SB 1047.

Other signators include JJ Abrams, Mark Ruffalo, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, Ava DuVernay, Rosie O’Donnell, Mark Hamill, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Jessica Chastain, Allison Janney, Judd Apatow, Fran Drescher, Sean Astin, Janelle Monáe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Don Cheadle, Mariska Hargitay, Sophia Bush, Connie Britton, Alec Baldwin, Mahershala Ali, Annaleigh Ashford, Alyssa Milano, Jessica Alba, Rosanna Arquette, John Cho, Jennifer Beals and Tom Arnold. In a recent open letter in support of SB 1047, over a hundred current and former employees of OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Anthropic, Meta, and xAI said: “‘We believe that the most powerful AI models may soon pose severe risks, such as expanded access to biological weapons and cyberattacks on critical infrastructure.
