Jamie Foxx Tearfully Reflects on Health Scare at BET Awards

As he received the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET Awards, Jamie Foxx cried as he credited his family with being the reason why he's still here.

“When I saw that in memoriam, I was like, ‘Man, that could’ve been me.’ But I don’t know why I went through what I went through, but I know that my second chance, I’m not going to turn it down,” said Foxx as the camera panned to his daughters Corinnne and Anelise, who were in the audience, and also in tears. Foxx’s daughters also became emotional as the actor reflected on his recovery and snuck in jokes, referencing people in the audience and the folks who helped “pull me through,” including his sister Deidra. “He may be able to make a full recovery, but it’s gonna be the worst year of his life,” Foxx recounted the doctor telling his sister.
