Is The Batman franchise really dead in the water? DC Universe co-chair James Gunn speaks on the rumor that the film’s sequel has been cancelled.

The original film came out in 2022 to rave reviews, quickly leading to a sequel being confirmed along with two spin-offs: The Penguin and a series based around the GCPD. These fears came to a head recently when a rumor began to circulate that both the sequel and planned trilogy had been scrapped amidst the project’s delay into 2026. Fans’ first response, as with most things concerning the DC Universe, was to annoy James Gunn on social media to see if he would confirm or deny this rumor.
