Jake Gyllenhaal's company Nine Stories Productions has hired Josh McLaughlin as its new president.

Prior to that, he spent 10 years at Focus Features, eventually serving as president of production, while working on movies such as Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman,” “The Darkest Hour” and “Phantom Thread.” He collaborated with filmmakers, such as David Leitch on “Atomic Blonde” starring Charlize Theron and Joel Edgerton on “Boy Erased,” and served as executive producer for “Let Him Go,” starring Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. “I’m eager to build on the company’s impressive achievements and momentum, and collaborate with talented filmmakers and creatives to deliver compelling content to our trusted partners.” Nine Stories has recently backed “Road House” and the AppleTV+ series “Presumed Innocent.” Gyllenhaal co-founded Nine Stories in 2015 and worked on Antoine Fuqua’s “The Guilty,” David Gordon Green’s “Stronger” and Paul Dano’s “Wildlife.” For the stage, the company has produced “We’re Only Alive for a Short Amount of Time” by playwright David Cale, “Sea Wall/A Life” and Jeremy O.
