Jacques Audiard Isn’t Speaking to Karla Sofía Gascón Right Now
The Emilia Pérez director says the controversy around her makes him very sad.
In the midst of Karla Sofía Gascón’s day-long posting fast, Emilia Pérez director Jacques Audiard opened up about his feelings regarding the controversy about his star’s past tweets. He went on to explain that he intends to champion Emilia Pérez ’s other acting nominee, Zoe Saldaña, as well as the film’s crew going forward. Audiard also addressed some of the controversy around Emilia Pérez as a film, as well as his past comments in which he said that Spanish was the language of a “developing country.” He was specific to mention that he did not intend to make a documentary about Mexico or the cartels.
