The Aussie actor most recently starred in Sofia Coppola’s subtle biopic Priscilla and Emerald Fennel’s viral Saltburn, for which he is nominated for a BAFTA. Based on the 2021 novel Foregone by the late Russell Banks, the film tells the story of Leonard Fife (Gere), a famed documentary filmmaker who takes stock of his life, with not long to go after being stricken with cancer at 80 years old.
