Jack Quaid's Novocaine leads slowest box office weekend of the year with $8.7M debut
Novocaine topped the US box office over the weekend, but came in well below expectations, as did the rest of the latest offerings from Hollywood studios.
The thriller, which also features the talents of Pierce Brosnan, Naomie Harris, Regé-Jean Page and Marisa Abela received a 97-percent review from the critics at Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience score was much lower, which perhaps foreshadowed its disappointing debut of a mere $7.5 million. The animated adventure follows Porky Pig and Daffy Duck who become the Earth's only hope in the face of a threat from an alien invasion earned entered the box office atmosphere with $3.7 million. The live action adventure featuring Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer and the voice of Ben Whishaw as the loveable toy bear, got a stamp in its passport worth 2.77 million.
