After defense attorney Danielle Melnick (Tovah Feldshuh) is caught couriering messages out of prison for a dangerous client, whom a judge disallowed from communicating with the outside world, and a lawyer is murdered, McCoy must decide whether to prosecute his longtime friend. Cutter (Linus Roache), Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza), Lupo (Jeremy Sisto), and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) work around the clock and finally meet a teacher who can point them to the culprit. After a survivor of a deadly school shooting goes on to murder a senator who voted against a gun-control reform bill, defense attorney Rebecca McCoy (played by Sam Waterston’s daughter, Elisabeth) takes up his case.
