ITV weather legend Wincey Willis dies aged 76 after dementia battle


The first ever woman to front ITV's national weather broadcasts passed away last December but her death was made public only today

A trailblazer in British broadcasting, the Gateshead-born presenter rocketed to fame in 1983 when she fronted the weather forecasts for the first incarnation of Good Morning Britain. Wincey was a vibrant part of the pioneering breakfast TV:am team that included Anne Diamond and Rustie Lee, plus fitness guru "Mad Lizzie" Webb and the unforgettable puppet Roland Rat. She spent her later years working on conservation projects and doing the odd spot of broadcasting (Image: Birmingham Post and Mail)Once she found fame on Good Morning Britain, she also appeared on the Channel 4 game show Treasure Hunt alongside Anneka Rice.
