Roy's danger-dodging doesn't end there; he soon embarks on a perilous salvation mission beneath Brighton Pier, racing against the tides to rescue a businessman's abducted son. The character experienced the joy of pregnancy with DS Roy Grace's child at the climax of the previous season, only to be engulfed by despair due to a subsequent miscarriage as the latest series kicks off.
