ITV Coronation Street fans ‘fall in love’ with Ab Fab legend as she makes soap debut
Helen Lederer made her debut on Coronation Street tonight as she played a new love interest for Ken Barlow - and fans are already calling for her to join the soap permanently
They went to a hotel bar for a drink while discussing Steve's romantic woes, when Helen's character, a lady named Elspeth, started chatting with Ken. Clearly seeing the spark of some serious chemistry, Steve was understandably disappointed to realise that Ken was getting all the attention, but in a surprising twist, fans at home couldn't get enough of Elspeth! "And to be offered a part playing a role opposite William Roache is even more exciting, I had met him once before when I sat next to him at an event and I thought what a lovely man he was and so personable.
