Sophia became a global sex symbol in the 1950s, making her film debut in Quo Vadis and working as a model before getting her big break in 1953's Aida. Sophia last acted in her son Edoardo Ponti's 2020 Oscar-nominated film, The Life Ahead, which won her a David di Donatello Award for best actress.
