Isabel Sandoval Wraps ‘Moonglow’

Isabel Sandoval is putting the finishing touches on 'Moonglow,' a romantic noir set against the backdrop of Marcos-era Philippines in 1979.

Isabel Sandoval, the Hollywood-based Filipino filmmaker behind the critically acclaimed “Lingua Franca,” is putting the finishing touches on her latest feature “ Moonglow,” a romantic noir set against the backdrop of Marcos-era Philippines in 1979. Sandoval, who directed episodes of FX’s Emmy-nominated “Under the Banner of Heaven” starring Andrew Garfield and Amazon Prime’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” is positioning “Moonglow” as a film that appeals to cinephiles who appreciate both Wong Kar-wai’s “In The Mood for Love” and classic Hollywood romanticism. The director, a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is particularly proud of securing legendary sound designer Tu Duu-chuh, known for his work with Asian cinema masters Edward Yang, Hou Hsiao-Hsien, and Wong Kar-wai.
