The two ultraviolence-prone, indestructible frenemies embark on a Midnight Run –like buddy time-cop odyssey, something of an art-imitating-life parallel considering how much Marvel has riding on Deadpool & Wolverine saving the MCU from sagging Tomatometer scores and declining audience shares. In 2017, reportedly unhappy with co-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s progress on Solo: A Star Wars Story, she fired the successful duo (behind 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie franchise) mid-shoot and replaced them with Ron Howard.
