Irv Gotti, Hip-Hop Powerhouse and Murder Inc. Founder, Dies at 54
The influential producer and music mogul, who helped shape the careers of Ja Rule, Ashanti, and DMX, has passed away.
He produced Mic Geronimo’s debut album The Natural, which introduced the world to rising talents JAY-Z, DMX, and Ja Rule. As an A&R at Def Jam, he played a pivotal role in signing DMX to the label, helping to shape the trajectory of the Ruff Ryders star’s career. Beyond Murder Inc., Gotti’s production credits span collaborations with JAY-Z, Jennifer Lopez, Fat Joe, Memphis Bleek, Eve, and many more, cementing his legacy as one of hip-hop’s most influential architects.
