Listen Like Thieves boasted a number of successful singles, including the title track, as well as Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down the Mountain), This Time, and What You Need – which peaked at No.2 in Australia and No.5 on Billboard's Hot 100. His partner, Paula Yates, claimed a year before her own death that Michael likely died accidentally while choking himself for sexual pleasure, as the pair had engaged in similar sex games.
