After rejecting his proposals three times, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon finally agreed to marry King George V’s second son, Prince Albert, who had become infatuated with the youngest daughter of the Earl and Countess of Strathmore. Princess Anne married Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence at Crathie Kirk near Balmoral Castle in Scotland on 12 December 1992, in an intimate service that was attended by about 30 family guests and close friends. Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, on 12 October 2018 and famously made a statement by having the back of her wedding dress cut low to show the scar that runs down her spine following childhood surgery to correct scoliosis.
