Princess Diana's debut appearance at the Trooping the Colour ceremony, held in honour of the Queen's birthday, sadly took a disastrous turn in 1981, when she was just 19 years old. The day took a terrifying twist when, during the ceremony, 17 year old Marcus Simon Sarjeant fired six pistol blanks at Queen Elizabeth II as she was riding along The Mall, causing distress to her horse.
