Carey dropped the lead single from her upcoming album on Friday, June 6, and performed it for the first time three days later at the 2025 BET Awards, where she was honored with the Ultimate Icon trophy. The “Type Dangerous” music video, which will premiere on Friday, June 13, sounds like it will have plenty of people talking too; director Joseph Kahn recently teased on X that it features an “earth shattering surprise.” The Grammy winner has spent the last few years celebrating the resurgence of interest in her 1994 album, Merry Christmas, in addition to reissuing some of her most beloved projects, including The Emancipation of Mimi, which turned 20 in April.
