Holly's comeback wasn't exactly long in the planning. You wouldn't have guessed it on the night, but friends of the presenter say it was a 'big thing' for her to step back into the limelight.
TV insiders speculate that her appearance on-stage, to present an award to close friends Ant and Dec for I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, represented a bid to regain some normality after her agonising experience at the hands of stalker Gavin Plumb, a former security guard. While they had, of course, been in touch to support Holly, she found it difficult to leave her London home in the immediate aftermath of Plumb’s arrest and her subsequent departure from This Morning in October last year, and instead saw only her family and a small circle of close friends. As a jury later heard, 30-stone fanatic Plumb had gathered a disturbing array of items that he planned to use to kidnap Holly, including a chloroform restraint kit, handcuffs, cable ties and ball gags.
