Inside Hayley Mills' life including real age, divorce and famous children
As Hollywood icon Hayley Mills returns to our screens this week with a new role in Death in Paradise, we take a closer look at the former Disney actress' impressive life off screen
She began acting at the age of 12 when she was cast by J. Lee Thompson to take on the lead in Tiger Bay alongside her father, however, despite initially looking for a boy to play the role, he was so impressed by Hayley’s potential he immediately gave her the part instead! Following on from her successes with Disney, the company decided to cast Hayley in a number of popular films that followed including 1961 classic The Parent Trap, as well as Whistle Down the Wind, In Search of the Castaways, Summer Magic and The Chalk Garden. After her Disney success, Hayley began to work more frequently with director Roy Boulting and appeared in a number of his films including The Family Way, Pretty Polly and even controversial horror movie Twisted Nerve.
