Multiple award-winning Indian director Hansal Mehta(“Scam 1992,” “Shahid”) is diving into the production game, launching True Story Films with producer Sahil Saigal in a strategic partnership that includes investments from industry heavyweights Vinod Bhanushali and Parag Sanghvi. The newly minted banner, which represents a significant expansion of Mehta’s creative footprint, is launching with an ambitious slate valued at approximately INR5 billion ($58 million). Mehta, whose recent director credits include “Faraaz” and “The Buckingham Murders,” will serve as creative head while Saigal, who produced both those pics, will oversee business operations.
