EXCLUSIVE: India ’s box office revenue reached a record $1.47BN (Rs122.3BN) in 2023, a 15% increase over the previous year, according to a report from Mumbai-based Ormax Media. Hollywood had an underwhelming year in India in 2023, according to Ormax figures, with combined box office of $136.95M (Rs11.39BN), a 7% decline on the $147.9M (Rs12.3BN) taken in 2022. Oppenheimer was the highest grossing US studio film last year, taking $19M(Rs1.6BN), followed by Fast X with $16.2M (Rs13.5BN) and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One with $16M (Rs1.3M).
