In Steven Soderbergh’s “ Black Bag,” released last week, Cate Blanchett ‘s Kathryn St. Jean and Michael Fassbender’s George Woodhouse are a John and Jane-like pair of spies tasked with catching a mole in the British intelligence agency for which they both work — and forced to reckon whether they’re more loyal to each other, or their country. From their CIA-adjacent roles and sprawling London estate — not to mention the $12 million offshore account in question throughout the film — we know that Kathryn and her husband have more than enough money to afford designer clothing, allowing Mirognick to create a believable wardrobe without having to evade bold-faced labels. In the office, we see her in equally powerful ensembles, including a deep chocolate brown sweater and maxi skirt and ruched knee-high suede leather boots, layered under a billowing camel trench coat from Max Mara.
