Ian Sweet Covers Broken Social Scene, Says Their Music Feels Like ‘The Equivalent of a Hug’
Ian Sweet's Jilian Medford has covered Broken Social Scene's 'Anthems For a Seventeen Year-Old Girl.'
Medford’s vocals are a perfect fit for the 2002 track, as she quietly conveys the pain and desperation of lines like “Park that car, drop that phone, sleep on the floor, dream about me.” The original is essential, other covers have taken it to amazing places as well, and now I’ve recorded my version hoping a few more people will get to shout the lyrics at the top of their lungs and FEEL FUCKING INCREDIBLE doing so. She’s currently on tour promoting her excellent new album, Sucker, which wraps in North America in Catskill, New York in late June.
