ADRIAN THRILLS: A true showman finds it hard to leave the stage - and that's certainly the case with Elton John.
And he was joined onstage by the American singer-songwriter plus an all-star band that included redoubtable drummer Chad Smith, of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the album’s producer Andrew Watt, a lively presence on guitar. Despite some notable cameos – Cunningham’s duet; some synths by Taylor Swift’s producer Aaron Dessner – Rushmere relies largely on the core trio to deliver aching folk ballads and surging rockers that’ll go down a storm live. Performance artist Amelia Barratt delivers her vaguely unsettling vignettes in a cool, detached, cut-glass accent, with the Roxy Music singer fleshing out her spoken narratives by reworking old demo recordings.
