I saw Ali Wong perform stand-up for a handful of drunk strangers in an East Hollywood backyard nine years ago - now the comedy superstar is selling out venues all over Australia

Ali Wong recently revealed she's selling out venues around Australia for her stand-up comedy show Ali Wong Live.

Back in 2015, I was living in Los Angeles when I was invited to a stand up comedy show, called BrewHaHa, held in a cramped backyard in East Hollywood. But Ali was without doubt the star of the night, sending the very tipsy crowd into raptures with jokes about her pregnancy and her successful efforts to attract a Harvard graduate husband. In 2016, she released her wildly popular first Netflix stand-up special called Baby Cobra, which was filmed in September 2015 when Wong was seven months pregnant with her first child, around the same time I first saw her.
