Huge 90s one-hit wonder star died at 57 - just months after devastating diagnosis

Scatman John, real name John Paul Larkin, rose to fame in the 1990s with his scat singing and dance music, becoming best-known for his hit track Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)

John's first big hit came in 1994, with his single Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop) topping the charts and eventually selling six million records worldwide. The singer collaborated with dance producers Tony Catania and Ingo Kays on the record, which prompted him to adopt the stage name Scatman John. Author Jeff conducted chats with those who were close to John during his jazz days, including the singer's manager Manfred Zähringer.
