The Lord Of The Rings actor Ian McKellen has opened up on a horror fall from the stage during a performance in the West End, which has left him with a number of injuries

Sir Ian McKellen has opened up about a terrifying fall he had on stage in the West End, revealing that his fat suit "saved" his "ribs and other joints". The 85 year old acting legend lost his footing during a Player Kings fight scene back in June at the Noel Coward Theatre, resulting in wrist and neck injuries. Renowned for his dynamic portrayals of iconic Shakespearean roles and beloved characters such as Magneto in X-Men and Gandalf in The Lord Of The Rings, Sir Ian McKellen remains a venerable figure in both theatre and film.
