How much Richard Hammond's divorce is going to cost him as he looks set to lose huge amount from his  staggering £65million fortune

Richard Hammond's divorce is likely to cost him half of his staggering estimated £65million fortune, MailOnline can reveal.

But the star's announcement that his 28-year marriage to the newspaper columnist is coming to an end means that the couple will have to split their assets in half, given the length of time they have been together, a legal expert has warned. When Richard and his Top Gear co-stars Jeremy Clarkson and James May were axed by the BBC in 2015, they signed a mega £160million deal with Amazon for the show Grand Tour, which saw his annual earnings rise to £7.25million a year. Their split comes amid claims from insiders that Richard - who shares two daughters with Mindy, Isabella, 24, and Willow, 22 - has become increasingly harder to live with in recent years due to injuries sustained in two near-fatal car crashes.
