Kevin Smith wants to pay tribute to Shannen Doherty in the ‘Mallrats’ sequel by enlisting the actress’ friend Sarah Michelle Gellar to take over her role

Smith has been wanting to make a follow-up, titled Twilight of the Mallrats, for “years” prior to the actress’ death from breast cancer in July. The actress, born in Memphis in April 1971, started her career as a child star on Little House on the Prairie and went on to appear in the dark comedic film Heathers.
