How David Jason's unlikely pre-fame career inspired new Jay Blade Touring Toolshed TV show

Before he was a national treasure Sir David Jason was an electrician and still loves to use his skills to make mechanical toys so when he met Jay Blades they decided to go on a crafting road trip

Then during the Covid lockdowns he started spending more and more time in his toolshed and rediscovered his passion for making model rockets, restoring vintage motorcycles and running an electric train set. In the first episode, the pair visit Coventry’s Midland Air Museum where 94-year-old volunteer Gordon Talbot helps restore and maintain vintage aircraft, including a German Second World War Flettner helicopter. Now back from his jaunt around the country with the toolshed, David is looking forward to settling down to watch his old Only Fools co-star Nicholas Lyndhurst in the new series of Frasier.
