Winston credits Cruise with elevating his plans for the stunt that saw him making an elaborate trek out of Paris on a motorcycle carrying the Olympic flag, only to emerge moments later parachuting down into the Hollywood hills next to the iconic sign. Winston arranged a permit with L.A. city officials but he was under strict orders to keep the plans tightly under wraps – otherwise police and producers would have a crowd-control problem on their hands. Winston credited the success of the segment to the strength of his strike team of producers and collaborators who rise to the challenge of crafting great TV moments.
