How Barry McGuigan will forever be haunted by his tragic fight with late Young Ali - after boxer broke down in tears discussing his daughter's death on I'm A Celeb
Nearly three decades before his daughter's death, McGuigan experienced another traumatic event which shaped his life when Young Ali fell into a coma.
The tragedy seriously impacted McGuigan who, like Ali - real name Asymin Mustapha, was fighting to support his pregnant wife at the time, but while the Irishman and partner Sandra got to meet their son Blain, the African boxer never met his newborn child. After returning to boxing four months later after contemplating quitting, McGuigan won his fight against Duncan but shortly after he received the news he had been dreading, Young Ali was not showing any signs of recovery and his family made the agonising decision to turn off his life support machine. Two-and-half years later, McGuigan dedicated his World Title win over Eusebio Pedroza to Young Ali and he broke town in tears speaking to legendary BBC boxing commentator Harry Carpenter afterwards to an audience of millions watching on television.
