Hootie And The Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker, 58, recalls how Woody Harrelson saved his life as he touches on his father's absence and brother's death in new memoir


The Hootie And The Blowfish frontman, 58, released his new book Life's Too Short this Tuesday and offered a frank look at his personal troubles - including in his own family.

Early in his memoir, Darius revealed that images of Carolyn flashed through his mind when he nearly drowned - only to be rescued by Woody Harrelson; the friends are pictured in 1999 Darius enjoyed a close bond with his single mother Carolyn, a nurse who encouraged his musical ambitions before she died of a heart attack in 1992. Woody caught hold of him, but the current nearly pulled Darius away, and the singer began to hallucinate, seeing 'a blinding blast of white,' and also the late Carolyn.
