Home Alone could have starred Robert De Niro! Acting legend was considered for shock role in 1990 movie

Home Alone celebrated its 33rd anniversary back in November - with the Macaulay Culkin classic now a firm staple of the holiday season.

Culkin played precocious Kevin McCallister, a trouble-making eight-year-old boy who is mistakenly left home alone while his family spends Christmas in Paris - but the film could have boasted a very different cast line-up. Crooks Lyme and Marv Murchins (Daniel Stern) target the McCallister family home in Chicago but are taken down by Kevin's ingenious contraptions. Columbus also revealed to Insider that he ran into Goodfellas director Martin Scorsese, after he reunited with Pesci for the first time in years on his 2019 film The Irishman.
