Hollywood actor Damian Lewis takes part in bizarre tradition as he herds sheep over the River Thames
The Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actor and his fellow Freemen herded the animals over Southwark Bridge in what he described as an "eccentric, very British, day".
Over a thousand City Freemen guided their sheep along an ancient trading path on Sunday, September 29, commemorating their medieval privilege to transport goods to market via the Thames without toll charges. The Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actor, who is also a Freeman of the City, was snapped keeping the flock in line ahead of other freemen sporting black hats and red and fur cloaks at the London Sheep Drive. The event, complete with stalls, is anticipated to rake in tens of thousands for the Woolmen Charity, backing the wool trade, and the Lord Mayor's Appeal, dedicated to tackling "London's most pressing societal issues".
