Hiroyuki Sanada Says ‘Shogun’ Season 2 Is ‘Aiming’ to Shoot This Fall: ‘The Writers’ Room Is Working So Hard’

"Shogun" star Hiroyuki Sanada said Season 2 of the Emmy-winning FX series could begin shooting as early as this fall.

“We are aiming for the fall of this year, and the writers’ room is working so hard now,” Sanada told Variety Saturday at AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards in Los Angeles. Justin Marks, Kondo’s husband as well as co-creator and executive producer of “Shogun” added, “We’re about six weeks from the end of the writers room.” At this year’s Golden Globes, “Shogun” took home four prizes, including best television series and lead actor in TV drama for Sanada.
